La artista de Oakland sigue su intimista idea llev\u00e1ndolo al minimalismo en cada detalle de su m\u00fasica. A unas pocas semanas antes de la salida del redondo, tenemos el corte del mismo nombre del \u00e1lbum, \u00ab<em><strong>Marathon<\/strong><\/em>\u00bb deja un gran sabor de boca, tema que regresa a sus ra\u00edces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Maria BC comenta: \u201c<em>Hab\u00eda una gasolinera Marathon al final de la calle donde viv\u00eda de ni\u00f1a. Su gran letrero luminoso era un punto de referencia para m\u00ed; cuando lo ve\u00eda desde la ventanilla del coche de mi madre, sab\u00eda que est\u00e1bamos a punto de llegar a casa. Su ic\u00f3nica \u2018M\u2019 todav\u00eda evoca esa sensaci\u00f3n de anta\u00f1o, la familiaridad del regreso a casa y una punzada de nostalgia. Creo que hay algo perverso en esto. La imagen de la petrolera es, o al menos era, excepcionalmente patri\u00f3tica, con su paleta de colores rojo, blanco y azul y su imagen idealizada del Medio Oeste, caminos polvorientos, vaqueros y caballos salvajes que evocan el eslogan de la marca: \u2018Impulsando el esp\u00edritu americano\u2019. Una vez o\u00ed a alguien referirse a la publicidad como \u2018poes\u00eda sat\u00e1nica\u2019; estoy de acuerdo.
